You store externally but the insurance is included. What can’t be insured inside a storage unit?

Please note that there are a few things we cannot insure for legal reasons: 

• Furs, works of fine art, mobile phones, perfumes, tobacco products, cigars, cigarettes, beer, wine, spirits, etc. with a total value of more than 15,000 euros
• Electronic devices with a total value of more than 15,000 euros. This includes radios, television sets, computers, software, hard drives, chips, microchips, printed circuit boards and their components, modems, screens, cameras, fax machines, photocopiers, video recorders, hi-fi equipment, stereo systems, CD players, and related devices. Please note that heavy electronic devices like switchgear, turbines, and generators do not fall into this category.
• Jewellery, watches, precious stones, precious metals, and stamps of any kind with a total value of more than 1,000 euros
• Money, coins, ingots, certificates, bonds, securities, etc.
• Weapons, ammunition, and explosives as well as parts thereof, related accessories, materials or ingredients of any kind
• Any combustible materials or substances
• Live animals or plants
• Loss of data records, excluding the costs of blank materials for data entry

Must I get insurance for my stored belongings?

 Yes. Simply book your self-storage insurance when signing the rental agreement. The exception is if your private home contents insurance already covers external storage. Brief written confirmation from your insurance is sufficient proof. 

 However, insurance is mandatory when you put sensitive company property or expensive tools and machines into storage. If you agree, make sure to mention insurance when you talk to us on the phone. We always strive to make your experience uncomplicated and hassle-free.  

Does my home contents insurance cover my belongings outside my home?

So-called personal property insurance makes sure that your belongings are protected outside of the flat or house typically covered by home contents insurance. It offers protection against theft or damage to valuables such as jewellery and electronic devices. Make sure to check the exact conditions and coverage of your insurance carefully to ensure adequate protection. To be absolutely sure, you can always rely on our self-storage insurance.
