Rent storage for files and documents
There are many reasons for renting a storage unit.
You want to move house and need temporary storage for all your things, you are planning a trip around the world and need space for all your important things during this time or you simply don't have enough space at home and want extra storage space for some things.
Renting a storage unit - this option is also available to finally move out the documents and files that you keep at home and finally have more space for everyday and important things.
Renting a storage unit is particularly easy with Lager.de
Renting storage made easy
Here's how it works: Lager.de is an outdoor storage park where you can rent a storage unit and then store all your things there, including files and documents, for example.
You rent your box and can then drive up to the front of the box by car and unload.
Lager.de has one advantage over other self-storage providers: it is cheaper because it is an outdoor storage facility and the storage rooms are not in a large hall. However, this has no disadvantages.
Of course, there are also a few other tips on how best to store documents.
Lager.de tips for documents and files
Of course, some documents should not be stored as they are always needed for everyday use. These include, of course, identity documents such as ID cards, driving licences and passports. You should always carry these with you, as identification is compulsory in Germany.
Other documents, on the other hand, can be stored separately as they are only needed in certain cases. These include purchase contracts and invoices, receipts and till receipts and guarantee documents. These should be kept for at least 24 months, i.e. two years.
Invoices for insured items in particular should be kept for even longer.
Rental documents, for example, should be kept for at least three years. Bank statements in particular are often kept for a particularly long time. However, there is no specified minimum period in Germany for how long these documents must be kept. Tax documents, on the other hand, should be kept for at least eleven years.
So you can already see that some documents should be kept for a long time, but you don't really need them in everyday life. Storage is recommended for these documents.
And if you do need to access these documents in an emergency, Lager.de makes it very easy. The generous opening hours ensure that you always have access to all your belongings. Thanks to the comprehensive security system, nothing gets lost in the storage rooms at Lager.de.
Logically, paper documents should always be kept away from moisture, humidity and dirt. This is also the case in the dry and clean boxes at Lager.de. By the way: Lager.de offers many different sizes for storage.
This gives you the flexibility to choose the perfect size for your storage unit.
Some other tips, especially for invoices with ink, are as follows: When copying, you should always avoid removing any post-its, staples and adhesive strips beforehand. Printouts of invoices, such as important receipts, should also be laminated, as the ink fades with time and sufficient oxygen. The documents should also be protected from a lot of UV light, i.e. sunlight.
It is also advisable to digitise the most important documents. Not only will you have them to hand more quickly, but you will also have them in duplicate in case the original pieces of paper are lost.
If something happens to you or your relatives, you should also always have an emergency folder at home in digital and printed form with the most important documents so that they can react quickly in case of doubt. This emergency folder should not be stored in the storeroom.
Otherwise, the following applies: storing them away frees up space at home for nicer things. And who wants to look at their masses of documents and files every day.
